An Interview with John Stinson: Challenges of Pediatric X-Ray Positioning
10 Jul 2011
John Stinson, product engineer and founder of Clear Image Devices, discusses the company’s specialty in the development of positioning devices for medical imaging with Tom Schaffner, Editor in Chief at Valley Forge Publishing. The discussion covered some of the main concerns in positioning pediatric patients and what Clear Image Devices is doing to further improve the quality and design of the company’s products.John’s experience has proven that proper positioning and immobilization of very young children is one of the most difficult problems to solve in the x-ray patient positioning field. There are several primary concerns that Clear Image Devices’ products address when positioning pediatric patients:
- Safety and comfort of the pediatric patient, x-ray technologist and parent
- Creating the best possible images
- Ease of use
- Reliability and maintainability
For the positioning product to be successful in the marketplace and be accepted by patients, radiologists and radiology administrators, it has to address all of these concerns in a cost-effective solution.
